Verona - The Penobscot Narrows Bridge will remain closed overnight due to falling ice. Crews will reassess the situation at first light.
Earlier today as temperatures started to rise, ice fell from the cables and piers resulting in damage of 5 to 6 vehicles. Out of an abundance of caution, MaineDOT closed the bridge to all traffic until further notice.
Updates will be provided as conditions warrant.
