Maine Winter Storm Warnings & Winter Weather Advisory

Winter Storm Warning: Pink
Winter Weather Advisory: Light Purple
The national weather service out of Gray and Caribou have issued Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisory for coastal and central Maine for Sunday. This weather system is complex as the coast of Maine from Kittery to Rockland may only see rain while just inland will see heavy snow. It is hard to see what will take place as Rockland will have a temperature of 32 during the day and 22 at night.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN CARIBOU HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM
WARNING FOR SNOW...SLEET...AND FREEZING RAIN WHICH IS IN EFFECT
FROM 3 PM SUNDAY TO 7 AM EST MONDAY. THE WINTER STORM WATCH IS NO
LONGER IN EFFECT.

* LOCATIONS...DOWNEAST AND INTERIOR DOWNEAST MAINE.

* PRECIPITATION TYPE...SNOW...SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN.

* ACCUMULATIONS...7 TO 10 INCHES OF SNOW. UP TO ONE QUARTER INCH
  OF ICE. HOWEVER...THERE IS STILL SOME UNCERTAINTY REGARDING
  PRECIPITATION TYPES AND AMOUNTS.

* TIMING...LATE SUNDAY AFTERNOON INTO MONDAY MORNING.

* TEMPERATURES...LOWS SUNDAY NIGHT IN THE MID TO UPPER TEENS
  INTERIOR AREAS...WITH LOWER TO MID 20S ALONG THE COAST.

* WINDS...NORTHEAST 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS TO AROUND 30 MPH
  BECOMING NORTH.

* IMPACTS...HIGH IMPACT. EXPECT TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. SNOW... SLEET
  AND A GLAZE OF ICE WILL PRODUCE SLIPPERY CONDITIONS. THE
  COMBINATION OF ADDITIONAL ICE AND SNOW MAY CAUSE MORE TREE LIMBS
  TO SNAP WITH SCATTERED POWER OUTAGES POSSIBLE.

* ACCUMULATIONS...VARYING FROM AROUND AN INCH NEAR THE COAST TO AS
  MUCH AS 8 INCHES FURTHER INLAND. RAIN WILL BE MORE COMMON ON THE
  COASTAL SIDE OF ROUTE 1.

* TIMING...BEGINNING SUNDAY EVENING AND ENDING BY EARLY MONDAY
  MORNING.

* IMPACTS...HEAVY SNOW WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. AREAS
  WHICH STILL HAVE ICE ON TREES FROM THE RECENT ICE STORM MAY BE

Stay tuned as this is a complex storm for the Mid-Coast Maine as they could see more snow depending on the track of the rain/snow line.
