UPDATE: The Penobscot Narrows has reopened for traffic. It will close the weekend for ice/snow clearing efforts.
Prospect, Maine - The Penobscot Narrows Bridge remains closed at this time due to the risk of additional falling ice from the bridge piers and cables.
MaineDOT has a crane on site that will attempt to gently knock ice that has formed on the cables. This operation will continue into this evening.
The outcome of this attempt will help determine the timeframe for traffic to once again move across this bridge.
