UPDATED Graffam Brothers Harborside Restaurant Closing It's Doors December 31st

Camden, Maine - We have learned that The Graffam Brothers Harborside Restaurant will be closing their doors tomorrow December 31st located off of Bay View Street in Camden, Maine.

Tomorrow, December 31, will be the final day for service at Graffam Bros. Harborside Restaurant located at Bay View Landing on the Camden harbor.  While Kim Graffam and Leni Gronros, the owners of Harborside, have enjoyed the time spent in business on the harbor and will greatly miss both the guests and their crew, the time has come to close that portion of their business.  In addition to the difficult financial climate which is affecting much of downtown Camden, Kim added that, “With three of our children still in elementary school, the demands of operating a restaurant in addition to our other businesses was taking us away from our kids far too often.”

The decision was an agonizing one knowing both that the employees of Harborside would be without work and that Harborside’s popular Community Connections evenings had already been scheduled for this winter.  Fortunately, David Robichaud, the owner of Cappy’s Chowder House, has graciously agreed to host all the scheduled Community Connections events for eleven consecutive Wednesday evenings starting on January 8th.  Leni said, “Kim and I plan to be at Cappy’s on January 8th to support them as they take over this project for us and we are confident the community will continue to support the eleven local non-profits that will have events there this winter.”

With this difficult decision, the Graffam family intends to focus their efforts on the other parts of their business in the area with Pen Bay Oil/Coastal Fuel, Graffam Bros. Seafood Market, their seasonal Graffam Bros. Seafood Shack and Tolman Pond Market.  Kim summed up her thoughts by saying, “We would like to thank the many, wonderful people who worked as part of our team at Harborside as well as the local and visiting guests that supported us along the way.”

Here is what they said in a statement on their facebook page:

It is with a heavy heart that we announce that tomorrow, December 31, 2013 will be our last day in operation. For those of you looking forward to our upcoming Community Connections evenings, the folks at Cappy's Chowder House have graciously agreed to take on that project for us and we hope you will support them and our community non-profit partners like you supported us with that project. Those evenings begin Wednesday, January 8th and run for the next 11 weeks. Since you have "liked" us here, we would love for you to "like" us on our sister page at Graffam Bros. Seafood Market where you will hear about our seasonal Seafood Shack and year-round fresh fish market and lobster shipping operation in Rockport. Thank you so much for your support and we hope to see you at The Market and at The Shack in the future!

We wish the employees and owners the best of luck in their future.
