Breaking News: Ellsworth Declares State of Emergency

Ellsworth, Maine - The city of Ellsworth has declared a state of Emergency according to City Manager Michelle Beal. All unnecessary traffic is asked to stay off the streets and any businesses that can close early are urged to assist in getting employees home early and safely. All city emergency resources are being used and prioritized for safety.

For your safety, the City Council, City Manager, and Public Safety Department are urging all residents to refrain from any travel that is not absolutely necessary. Travel conditions are becoming life threatening with icy conditions paired with downed power lines and fallen trees. Especially after sunset, it will become difficult to see the downed power lines and trees contributing to even more hazardous conditions. Resources of Ellsworth and surrounding communities are already being fully utilized. Immediate threats to life will be prioritized for emergency response.
