AUGUSTA – First Lady Ann LePage will welcome fifteen 2012 Maine Fitness Award Nominees, award winners, three Runners-Up and their family members to the Hall of Flags on Wednesday, June 06. The event will begin at 11:00 am.
The First Lady will join Dr. Eric Steele, Co-Chair of the Maine Governor’s Council on Physical Activity. They will recognize individuals, communities, worksites and schools for the role they play in supporting a healthy Maine through physical fitness and activity programs.
The Maine Governor’s Council on Physical Activity was created in 1987 by former Governor John McKernan. The mission of the Council is to promote wellness for Maine people through physical activity and other health policies and priorities. The Council consists of 25 members appointed by the Governor, as well as an additional group of 30 liaisons who represent a broad spectrum of groups interested in health and wellness.
