The Art of Boatbuilding at Lyman-Morse

The Art of Boatbuilding at Lyman-Morse

Thomaston, Maine - Georges River Land Trust will host an inside look at boat building at the Lyman-Morse boatyard on the Thomaston waterfront on Thursday, June 21 from 4:30 pm to 7 pm. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served after the tour on the banks of the St. George River. Tickets are $25 for Land Trust members and $30 for non-members, and can be purchased on-line at www.grlt.org/revelryevents.html or by calling (207) 594-5166.

Boat building has been a significant feature of theThomaston waterfront for more than 150 years.  For over a century, graceful Alden Malabar schooners and sturdy Friendship sloops “slid down the ways” in Thomaston.  In the late 1970’s, Lyman-Morse opened its doors on the St. George River and quickly earned a reputation for building exceptional customized sailing yachts and motor yachts.
