BLUE HILL, Maine — Local tattoo, graphic, and fine artist Corey Paradise will exhibit watercolor works, along with photographs of tattoos and examples of his tattoo equipment, in the Blue Hill Public Library’s Howard Room glass cases through the March 26. The title of the exhibit is Flashy Art Show.
According to Corey, he bases his tattoo artwork on the 2015 Dial-A-Song project, which had a simple premise: produce a flash sheet for each song. He says, “With readymade designs for collectors to choose from when they walk in, flash is what you see on the walls of a tattoo shop-- bold outlined illustrations with bright colors, often meant to be tattooed in one sitting. Recurring themes run amok in the songs and designs: childish folk art, grotesque sideshow banners, dada subway graffiti, post war pin-ups, postcards to post punk.”
The exhibit is available for viewing during library hours through March 26, subject to the Howard Room meeting schedule. For more information call the library at 374-5515.
