Paul Robeson: The Life and Times of a Great American Voice at the Camden Public Library

Camden, Maine - On Sunday, February 9, at 2:00 pm Camden favorite Michael Paul Lund of Serendipity Recordings returns to the Camden Public Library to deliver an inspiring talk on the life of the multi-talented and prolific Paul Robeson.
Robeson was a highly educated scholar and lawyer who spoke eight languages fluently and sang in twelve. He was famous both for his cultural accomplishments and for his political activism. Robeson was a talented athlete, film actor, public speaker, Shakespearian performer, and world class bass-baritone. He is especially well known by fans of Broadway for his portrayal of Joe in the musical Show Boat.
Lund’s presentation will cover Robeson’s entire life and feature many rare and moving recordings of Robeson, amassed from Lund’s 45 years of studying and collecting Robeson material. Lund will also have a large display table with books, photos, and fascinating memorabilia. There will also be hard-to-find recordings and compact discs of Robeson’s performances available for purchase.
