Calendar listing: Death with Dignity in Maine, how the new law works, by Valerie Lovelace, Wed. Jan. 22nd, 4 PM, Blue Hill Library, 374-5515.

BLUE HILL, Maine — Valerie Lovelace, Executive Director of Maine Death with Dignity, will give a presentation on this new law, and answer questions about what it means for end-of-life care in Maine, at the Blue Hill Public Library on Wednesday, January 22nd, at 4:00 PM.

On September 19, 2019, Maine became the tenth jurisdiction in the U.S. to allow terminally ill, capable adults the option to qualify for a lethal prescription they can self-ingest for the purpose of hastening their own death in a peaceful and dignified manner at a time of their choosing.

Maine Death with Dignity is a 501(c)(3) public charity organization providing services, education, and end-of-life advocacy. A major thrust of their work is supporting implementation of the new law by ensuring that patients, providers, and policy makers in our state have clear and unrestricted access to necessary information about the Maine Death with Dignity Act.

Valerie is a retired Navy veteran. She holds a Master of Science degree in Human Relations from Husson University and a Bachelor of Science degree, Industrial Technology, from the University of Southern Maine.

This presentation is co-sponsored by the library and Healthy Peninsula. It is free and open to everyone. For more information contact the library at 374-5515.
