Thursday, January 7

“Essential Oil Health Creations” hands-on craft workshop for adults at the Camden Public Library, 7:00 pm. The workshop is part of “Jumpstart January” at the library, call to sign up, $10 materials fee, 236-3440.


Sunday, January 10

Illustrated talk, “Kosti Ruohomaa, Legendary Photographer of Maine” presented by Deanna Bonner-Ganter, Maine State Museum Curator of Photography, Art, and Archives, 2:00 pm at the Camden Public Library, hosted by the Camden-Rockport Historical Society.


Monday, January 11

“Slow Down Aging at the Cellular Level, panel discussion at the Brown Bag Lunch series, hosted by Destination Wellness Midcoast Maine at 12:00 noon at the Camden Public Library. The presentation features a lively panel with nutritionist Judi Valentine, Ph.D., Bowen body work practitioner Sherrie Clark, R.N., and neuromuscular therapist Susan Barnes.


Tuesday, January 12

“Leer y charlar” is a Spanish language reading and conversation group which meets on second and fourth Tuesdays at 1:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. All who are proficient in Spanish are welcome, for more information contact leerycharlar@gmail.com.

The Tuesday Book Club meets monthly on the second Tuesday of the month at 1:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. All are welcome, please call Nina at 470-7473 for more information. The book choice for this month is “Nature of the Beast” by Louise Penny.

General Meeting of the Camden Philosophical Society, 4:00 pm at the Camden Public Library, open to all participants interested  in discussing the future activities of the society and, in particular, what topics should provide the focus for its reading and discussion group over the coming year.

“Your Next Career Move: Tools to Get Started,” 5:30 pm at the Camden Public Library. Ready for a career change but don’t know where to start? This workshop will help point you in the right direction. What to consider when making a career choice, the steps involved in creating a career plan, and the resources available to help you succeed, led by Melinda Wildes of New Ventures Maine.

“Sumi-e Landscape of Maine” with Frederica Marshall, a hands-on workshop at the Camden Public Library, 6:00 pm, part of the Library’s “Jumpstart January” series of craft workshops for adults. Please call the Library at 236-3440 to register; there is a $10 materials fee for each workshop which will be collected at the workshop. Learn to paint the gorgeous environment of Maine in the ancient style of Asian Brush Painting with international award-winning artist Frederica Marshall. Birch and evergreen trees, rocks, sky, and water will create an amazing ink and watercolor experience for you! No previous experience is necessary, a beginner’s mind is welcome.


Sunday, January 17

Ice Carving Demonstration with master ice carver Tim Pierce, 1:00 pm in front of the Camden Public Library. The demonstration is a wonderful and intriguing outdoor event and is open to everyone, in preparation for Camden’s upcoming Winterfest.


Tuesday, January 19

“Tech Tuesday” at the Camden Public Library will cover “Facebook 102” at 3:00 pm. Bring your device and arrive 15 minutes early to connect to our network. Facebook 102 will cover privacy settings: Who can see your photos? How to exclude your name from being used in advertisements? And much, much, much more. Please note this is not an introductory class and a basic understanding and prior use of a Facebook account is required. Please call the library to sign up, 236-3440.

Songwriters Sessions begin, 6:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. The Songwriters meet monthly to prepare for the Camden Library Coffeehouse in June. Call Ken Gross at the library for more information, 236-3440

Camden Conference presentation on “Islam and Jihad-ism across Africa” with Prof. Seth Singleton, 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library.

Career Planning class meets weekly for five weeks at the Camden Public Library, 5:30 pm. Review your skills, interests, and experiences, and research local jobs. Led by Melinda Wildes of New Ventures Maine.

 “Birding in Cuba” with Jody Telfair, hosted by Midcoast Audubon, 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library.
