PORTLAND, Maine -- The City Clerk is reminding citizens that all 2015 dog licenses expire on December 31, 2015. Tags for 2016 are currently available from the Clerk’s office (Room 203, City Hall) through January 31, 2016 without a late fee. You can also renew your dog’s license online.
For an “altered” dog the cost is $6. For a dog that is not spayed or neutered, the cost is $11. After January 31, the late fee is an additional $25. The City Clerk’s office is unable to waive any late fees as it is a state law.
Citizens are required to present a current rabies certificate in order to license a dog.
