Rockland, Maine - Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker, performed by the Bolshoi Ballet, will be presented as a captured-live high definition broadcast from Moscow on Sunday, December 20 at 1pm, at the Strand Theatre, 345 Main Street.

In the story, young Marie is given a wooden nutcracker as a gift on Christmas Eve.  When the clock strikes midnight, the Nutcracker transforms into a prince and saves Marie from the Mouse King and his army. This beloved holiday classic, with its fairytale setting and Tchaikovsky’s timeless score, is appropriate for the whole family. The Bolshoi’s version of The Nutcracker has a unique and beautiful sense of romance and philosophy, danced by the heroic Denis Rodkin as the courageous Prince and the magical Anna Nikulina as Marie. The music is by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, and choreography by Yuri Grigorovich.
