The fourth and final session of the series, The New Africa: Challenges and Hope, will reflect upon the issues that confront Sub-Sahara Africa in joining the global community on its own terms and examine a set of African-generated initiatives that inspire hope of such inclusion in the near future. Is Sub-Sahara Africa emerging as a potential economic power? Can pervasive and long-standing cultural, ethnic, economic, political, leadership, and environmental challenges be overcome? Will the in-country and regional initiatives currently underway provide beacons of hope for Sub-Sahara Africa’s emergence?
Join us for an evening of unraveling the challenges and the hopes that together are Sub-Sahara Africa. Discussions take place at the Camden Public Library on Tuesday, January 5 at 7:00 p.m., at the Belfast Free Library on Wednesday, January 6 at 6:30 p.m., and at the Rockland Public Library on Tuesday, January 12 at 6:00 p.m.. Participants will have the opportunity to be part of a lively discussion based on selected readings and videos, which can be found at www.camdenconference.org.
