The Polar Bears improve to 5-2-1 (3-2-0 NESCAC) while the Bobcats fall to 4-4-2 (1-2-2 NESCAC).
How It Happened
- Bowdoin controlled the majority of the contest, out-shooting the Bobcats 24-9
- The Polar Bears came out firing and hit two posts in the opening half - one by Kiersten Turner just three minutes into the contest and then Jamie Hofstetter late in the period
- Bowdoin upped the offensive pressure in the second half, amassing 16 shots and controlling the pace of play
- The game-winning goal came off a corner kick following a sustained possession in the Bates defensive zone
- Kiersten Turner lofted a corner kick into the box where Patterson was left unmatched and netted her sixth goal of the season to give Bowdoin all the scoring it would need
- Patterson's sixth goal of the year matches the season-high by any Bowdoin player from 2014
- Bridget McCarthy and Bowdoin defense made the single goal stand, making three saves in the shutout
- The Polar Bears will return to action on Saturday with another key conference road game at Trinity, scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
