Weston, Mass. – Husson University women's swimming & diving opened up their 2015-16 campaign with a dual meet at Regis College. The Pride women defeated the Eagles, 145-102.
Husson's Lara Sarett posted three wins for the Eagles on Saturday. She won the 100 yard butterfly with the third fastest time in program history of 1:06.56, the 100 yard individual medley with the fifth fastest time in program history of 1:08.92 and the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:13.01 to set a new school record. The previous mark of 1:16.26 held by Cami Howard had stood since December 10, 2005.
Katrina Aman took home the win in the 1000 yard freestyle with a 14:37.82 and Ashley Clark and Aman had the top two fastest times in the 500 yard freestyle at 6:27.04 and 6:59.91.
For Regis, the 200 yard medley relay team of Molly Belles, Lucia Llorente Ruiz, Ali Butcher, and Ashlyn Deroche kicked off the meet with a time of 2:01.03 and a win. Molly Belles added a win in the 50 yard backstroke with a time of 30.46, while Llorente Ruiz took home the top time in the 50 yard breaststroke at 35.92.
Ali Butcher grabbed a win in the 50 yard freestyle (26.85) with Ashlyn Deroche winning the 100 yard freestyle in 59.68. Current NEISDA Swimmer of the Week Jessica Higgins posted wins in the 200 yard freestyle (2:08.34), 100 yard backstroke (1:04.00), and 50 yard butterfly (28.93).
The 200 yard freestyle relay team of Llorente Ruiz, Butcher, Bells, and Higgins rounded out the day with a win in a time of 1:49.25.
The Eagles return to the pool on Friday night, October 30th when the host Saint Joseph's College of Maine for their home dual meet opener at Webber Pool starting at 6:00pm
