Madison Area Job Fair January 27

Skowhegan, Maine - The Madison Business Alliance, in conjunction with the Maine Department of Labor and Kennebec Valley Community Action Program, is hosting the Madison Area Job Fair on Tuesday, January 27 at Madison Junior High School, 205 Main Street, Madison. The recruiting event will be held 3 to 7 p.m.

"Job fairs give job seekers and employers a way to meet face to face and learn about each other," said Governor Paul LePage. "Be prepared. Visit the Skowhegan CareerCenter for resume and interviewing workshops."

More than 30 businesses from Madison, Anson, Skowhegan and surrounding towns are signed up to participate in the job fair, including:

To assist job seekers in getting the most from attending the job fair, MBA is hosting a workshop on how to effectively network and stand out on Thursday, January 15, 5 to 7 p.m. at 52 Main Street in Madison. This workshop is free and open to any job seeker who wants to gain an edge when meeting potential employers face to face.

CareerCenters, part of the Maine Department of Labor, offer a variety of services to help people find employment or upgrade skills. Each center provides several public-access computer workstations with Microsoft Office software, resume writing and cover letter software, Internet access and O*Net software for skills assessment. All CareerCenter services are no cost.

The CareerCenter, located at 98 North Avenue, Suite 20, Skowhegan, is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
