Maine summer resident, Courtnay Smith Perevalova, will share her personal experience of being an American living and raising children in Russia – and how much has changed in the twenty three years she has lived there – on Tuesday, August 12 at the Rockland Public Library from 6:00-7:30 PM. This event is free and open to all.
Courtnay Smith Perevalova is a native Texan who has lived Russia for 23 years. Her Soviet Politics major at Smith College, where she received her BA, led her to Moscow in the early 90s to study Russian and a job in the United States Embassy. Her passion turned into a life with her husband, Dmitry, three bi-lingual kids and two bi-lingual dogs outside of Moscow. She recently started a service offering Russian to English translation services for popular restaurants in Moscow. Perevalova and her family spend their summer in Rockport, Maine where they get a healthy dose of America.
This presentation is hosted by the Rockland Public Library and offered as a free community event in in anticipation of the 28th Annual Camden Conference: Russia Resurgent, February 20-22, 2015.
