2014 Sea Princesses visit Knox Center for Long Term Care

Rockland, Maine - Of all the stories I cover in a year accompanying the Sea Princesses to the Knox Center has to be one of the high points of the entire year.

The day starts with the viewing of the movie”Buggin” about the lobster industry on the coast of Maine. Throughout the day the girls will meet individually with the judges. After the film there are tables laid out with dozens of Lobster Festival posters for the girls to sign, these are given to the sponsors and others who have contributed to the Sea Goddess Coronation. Once these have all been signed and the writers cramps have subsided it is time for the girls to create their own bouquets for the coronation.

When the work is done it is time for the most important part of the day. It is time to meet and sing for the residents of the Long term care facility! The girls travel to each of the sections of the facility and have a chance to meet the residents and to sing songs that they remember, many of which were way before these girls were born. The big smiles and the residents singing along created great memories for all.

How do you follow that? With a lobster dinner put together by the staff of the Know Center For Long Tern Care. After lunch the girls made custom bags for themselves while the last of the girls had there one on one interviews with the judges.

One step closer to crowning the 2014 Maine Sea Goddess.

  1. Many, many thanks to Doug & David Mills for all they do for Sea Princesses and the fabulous coverage they provide to the Coronation. Knox Center is a favorite of all involved and singing is so much fun not only for the residents but the singers as well. Many thanks to the Knox Center for making these memories and this experience possible.
