“A Peek Inside North Korea” Thursday, July 24th at 7:00pm

Portland, Maine - The Portland Public Library Peaks Island Branch hosts a talk by Peaks Island resident, Steve Schuit, who has recently returned from North Korea.  Schuit will share his photos and observations about the people he met and those he saw from afar.

Steve Schuit has had a strong bond with the Korean peninsula since 1973 when he served there as a Peace Corps Volunteer. He returned to Korea in 1988 to attend the Seoul Summer Olympics and was amazed at the country he witnessed only 13 years later. He has since returned a number of times for both business and pleasure.

Steve and his wife Marsha Greenberg are living in Gyeungsan, South Korea, where they are both professors at Yeungnam University. They have been Peaks Island residents since 1989.
