Rockland, Maine - Thursday, July 17th was the first
chance for the judges to spend time with the Sea Princesses as they
toured the Maine Lighthouse Museum and The Farnsworth Art Museum
finishing off the day with a potluck supper.
After taking care of a few details the
girls were split into two groups, group one toured the Farnsworth Art
Museum. The Midcoast of Maine was the summer home to the Wyeths,
N.C.Wyeth, Andrew Wyeth and Jamie Wyeth and many of there works are
housed at the Farnsworth, along with works from Robert Indiana,
Louise Nevelson and many more. The girls were also introduced to the
Farnsworth's program of arts in the local schools.
The second group toured The Maine Lighthouse Museum, home to one of the largest lighthouse displays in the world. The girls learned about the Lighthouse service and later the Coast Guard's roll in manning and maintaining our lighthouses. So many stories and so much to learn. The girls spent a much of their time taking notes and asking questions.
Once both groups had toured the two museums it was time to sit down for a great pot luck supper. This gave the judges to get to know each of the girls in an informal setting.
I do believe that everyone had a
fantastic day. Our thanks to The Maine Lighthouse Museum and The
Farnsworth Art Museum for hosting these tours.
