Trekkers Day program for local 7th grade students

Thomaston, Maine - Trekkers is announcing Trekkers Day 2014 for current 7th grade students living in Thomaston, Cushing, St. George, South Thomaston, Owls Head or Rockland. Led by Program Managers Meredith Lynt and Sarah Young, Trekkers Day is an opportunity for any 7th grader to preview the Trekkers program by participating in an entire day of Trekker-like activities. These activities will include participating in many of Trekkers’ famous team-building and problem solving initiatives, engaging in some low ropes initiatives at Camp Kieve, and ending the day by going bowling. This fun day of activities will also give the students the chance to meet some of Trekkers’ student leaders and caring adult volunteers.


Trekkers Day is Saturday, January 11th and is free of charge, but students must register ahead of time to participate. There are only 30 spots available. If your child is interested in signing up, please call the office at 594-5095 to speak with Meredith or Sarah as soon as possible.


If a student is unable to attend Trekkers Day or is put on a waiting list, this does not mean that they can’t participate in the core Trekkers program. In order to sign up for core programming, Trekkers will be hosting a community meeting for all interested 7th graders on Wednesday, February 5th at 5:30 pm at Oceanside West High School in Thomaston. This meeting will explain how to sign up for the core program.


Trekkers Day is a direct result of a six year expansion to include more opportunities for students starting in the 7th grade. The organization hopes that this day will offer interested students a first-hand sampling of what Trekkers is all about before the official enrollment process begins in early February.
