Wilberg will present from his book “Jean Navarre: France’s Sentinel of Verdun,” recounting the career of French World War I fighter pilot Jean Navarre, France’s first officially recognized ace. Wilberg will have books on hand for purchase and signing following the program.
Winter Education Series programs are free to the public. The next Winter Education Series on Saturday, January 25 features motorcycle aficionado and inventor Jack Churchill in his talk titled “Deus Ex Machina.” Churchill’s presentation will focus on technology and innovation from within a shop environment and will feature a screening of the stunning short film Deus Ex Machina as well as a display including several of Churchill’s own creations.
The Museum will also be represented at the Northeast Motorsports Expo on Friday evening, January 10, Saturday, January 11 and Sunday, January 12 at the Augusta Civic Center. The Northeast Motorsports Expo is New England’s longest continuously running motorsports tradeshow and features special presenters and vendors representing all aspects of New England motorsports.
Two of the Museum’s historic vehicles will be on display, including our popular 1932 Cragar Racer. Stop by our booth to check out these exciting vehicles and learn about what the Museum has in store for 2014. Museum Events and Auction Coordinator Toby Stinson and Ground Vehicle Conservator Warren Kincaid will be on hand to answer questions and discuss museum programs and events. The Northeast Motorsports Expo is open to the public; admission is $9.00 for adults, $7.50 for seniors, $5.00 for children 6 to 12 and free to children under age 6. Hours are Friday, January 10 from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m., Saturday, January 11 from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday, January 12 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
On Saturday, January 11 and Sunday, January 12 The Strand Theatre in Rockland will offer two screenings of the documentary film “Why We Ride.” This exciting documentary examines motorcycle culture as a representation of who we are, what drives the love of motorcycles and the passion for riding. The Owls Head Transportation Museum will display our beautiful 1919 Harley Davidson Model J in the lobby of The Strand throughout the weekend.
The Strand will offer two showings of the film, Saturday, January 11 at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, January 12 at 3:00 p.m. Admission is $8.50 for adults and $7.50 for students and seniors.
