Trauma surgeon joins CMMC Medical Staff‏

Lewiston, Maine - Rosa E. Turcios, M.D., a general and trauma surgeon, has been appointed to the Central Maine Medical Center Medical Staff. She is practicing with Central Maine Surgical Associates in Lewiston and is a member of the CMMC Trauma Team.

Before joining the greater Lewiston-Auburn medical-surgical community, Turcios practiced as a general and trauma surgeon with Poudre Valley Medical Group, a multi-specialty group that provides health care, wellness services and products in Colorado, Wyoming and Nebraska.

Her practice experience includes work as a general and trauma surgeon with Surgical Specialists of the Rockies, based in Fort Collins, Colo. She served as chief of surgical urgencies at Hospital Escuela in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, and was a professor of medicine at Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Honduras (UNAH), also in Tegucigalpa.

She earned her medical degree from UNAH and holds a graduate degree in hospital administration from UNAH- Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, both in Tegucigalpa.

Turcios completed a general surgery residency at UNAH, a general surgery internship at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, and a general surgery residency at Marshfield Clinic in Marshfield, Wis. She served surgical critical care fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. She was a post-doctoral research fellow at Temple University in Philadelphia.

She is certified in general surgery and surgical critical care by the American Board of Surgery.

She is practicing in association with general and trauma surgeons Christina M. Bertocchi, M.D., Shiraz Farooq, M.D., Larry O. Hopperstead, M.D., Wayne E. Mashas, M.D., Rajeev N. Puri, M.D., James F.
