Portland, Maine - The Portland Public Library is offering two workshops for computer beginners who would like to learn computer basics.  Basic Computer Training I will be held on Tuesday, October 12th and Tuesday, October 26th from 3:00-4:00pm.  The Workshops are free but registration is required.

Basic computer Training I is an introduction to using a computer, including explaining what’s on the desktop, mouse practice, and how to use a keyboard.  Both of these courses are offered in English but a French speaking volunteer will be present to help translate for French speaking students.

In addition to these regularly scheduled workshops, the library also offers thirty minute one-one-one computer tutoring sessions in French, Kurundi and Kiryarwanda by appointment only on Tuesdays between 1:00-4:00pm.  Tutoring sessions for English speakers are offered on Mondays between 5:00-6:30pm.

There is limited space available for each of these trainings and participants must register in advance at the Library’s Public Computing desk or by calling 871-1700 ext. 708.
