Saco, Maine – Phoenix Coyotes Assistant General Manager and Portland Pirates General Manager Brad Treliving announced today that the Portland Pirates have signed defenseman Randy Jones to a professional tryout contract (PTO).
Jones joins the Pirates after spending 18 games during 2012-13 season with the Oklahoma City Barons. The 6’2”, 205 lbs. native of Quispamsis, New Brunswick has played in 365 NHL games during his career, tallying 20 goals and 85 assists for the Philadelphia Flyers, Los Angeles Kings, Tampa Bay Lightning, and the Winnipeg Jets. Jones has spent time in the AHL with the Barons and both the Philadelphia and Adirondack Phantoms.
The Pirates will next play Wednesday when they host the St. John’s Ice Caps at 7 PM for the first of two games at the Colisée this week. Fans who wear a costume to the game and get a $10 ticket at the box office – fans dressed as either a Pirate or a hockey player will be entered to win a game worn Pirates jersey as well.
