COYOTES RECALL MIELE, ASSIGN YIP TO PORTLAND

GLENDALE, ARIZONA - Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have recalled forward Andy Miele and assigned forward Brandon Yip to the Portland Pirates, the club's American Hockey League affiliate (AHL).


The 25-year-old Miele has recorded 5-3-8 and six penalty minutes (PIM) in six games with the Pirates this season. The 5-foot-9, 175-pound Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich. native has appeared in eight career NHL games with the Coyotes. Miele originally signed with Phoenix as an undrafted free agent on April 2, 2011.


The 28-year-old Yip played in two games with the Coyotes this season. He also recorded 0-2-2 and two PIM in two games with Portland. The 6-foot-1, 198-pound native of Vancouver, B.C. has appeared in 174 career NHL games, totaling 29-27-56 and 130 PIM. Yip was originally drafted by the Colorado Avalanche in the eighth round (239th overall) in the 2004 Entry Draft.
