Augusta, Maine - Maine is home to many great businesses. Tomorrow evening some of the best of the best will be recognized at the eighth annual - "Best Places to Work in Maine" event in Portland.
The annual event, co-sponsored by the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD), the Maine Department of Labor - and several other Maine-based entities, recognizes Maine companies that have established and consistently foster outstanding workplace environments.
"All of these companies, no matter how big or small, recognize the benefit of creating and maintaining a strong and competitive workforce," said Governor Paul R. LePage. "My primary goal is make Maine as competitive as possible for private investment and job growth. A more vibrant workforce will absolutely help us build a stronger economy across the entire state."
Several members of the LePage Administration will help honor the record-breaking number of Maine companies named to this year's list, including: DECD Commissioner George Gervais; Labor Commissioner Jeanne Paquette; and Health and Human Services Commissioner Mary Mayhew.
The 60 businesses recognized this year are categorized based on size. They include: banks, auto dealerships, construction companies, information technology, and life sciences.
