Art Reception for Digital Artist David Cadbury
Art Reception for Digital Artist David Cadbury June 8
The Artist of the Month for June at the Camden Public Library will be David Cadbury of Rockport. Although Cadbury’s art training is in sculpture, and he holds a masters degree in fine art from the Rinehart School of Sculpture in Baltimore, he recently has been investigating printmaking using digital tools. Cadbury combines several framed prints of colorful, low-resolution images into large mural-like pieces. There will be a reception for the artist on Saturday, June 8, 4:00-6:00 pm, in the Picker Room. The title of the exhibit is “Interstitial Prints: Storyboard for an Animated Film.”
“My recent print-making has been focused on exploring, inventing, and refining techniques using the computer as a graphics tool,” says Cadbury in an artist’s statement. “The computer easily accommodates repetition, sequencing, and multiples which suggests animation as a next step. Strategies from film-making that I have been exploring in my prints include cut-away; fade-in, fade-out; superimposition; split screens; freeze frames; and elements of rhythm, tempo, and beat.”
