Bangor, Maine - Eastern Maine Medical Center (EMMC) has earned recognition for outstanding
performance from two national organizations that measure and compare hospital safety and patient satisfaction.
EMMC was recognized with an “A” safety score by The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit run by employers and other large purchasers of health benefits. The A score was awarded in the latest update to the Hospital Safety ScoreSM. The A, B, C, D or F scores are assigned to US hospitals based on preventable medical errors, injuries, accidents, and infections. The Leapfrog Group compiles and releases safety scores to provide the public with information they can use to make informed healthcare decisions for themselves and their families.
Additionally, Avatar Solutions acknowledged EMMC’s excellence in patient satisfaction by honoring the hospital with two awards. EMMC received an Exemplary Service – Overall Best Performer award for having high combined patient satisfaction scores in inpatient care, outpatient care, emergency services, and outpatient surgery. Avatar also recognized EMMC with an Exceeding Patient Expectations award, which recognizes EMMC for outperforming patient expectations in the areas of quality of care, reliability, and ability to provide personal, customized care.
“These accolades reflect the great work our entire hospital, medical staff, and allied health professionals do every day to provide safe care and outstanding service,” said James Raczek, MD, FAAFP, EMMC senior vice president, chief operating officer, and chief medical officer. “They highlight the exceptional care available right here in Bangor, Maine and motivate us to continue to innovate and improve.”
