Thomas Colege Baseball Drops a Pair to Union and Colby

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Thomas College baseball team dropped back-to-back games on Monday, falling to Union (N.Y.), 8-0, and to Colby, 7-2.
Game 1: Union 8, Thomas 0
The Dutchmen took an early 3-0 in the top of the first on a bases clearing double to left center by Colin Kelly.  Kelly later homered in the third for a two-run shot to make it 5-0.  Union added a run in the fourth, fifth, and sixth to finish the scoring at 8-0.
Josh Garber was given the win for the Dutchmen in seven innings, five hits, and no runs.
Cody Cousins (Wells, Maine) took the loss for Thomas in three innings, scattering seven hits and five runs (four earned).  Darren Kelly (Foxboro, Mass.) and Trevor Hinson (Whittier, Cal.) held Union silent in the final three innings.
Game 2: Colby 7, Thomas 2
The Mules struck first in the third inning, plating three runs as Jackson Ward scored on a double play and Matt Treveloni knocked a two-RBI triple to right field.
Thomas cut the deficit down to one in the top of the fourth as Nicholas Cousins (Wells, Maine) scored on an error and Hank Vinall (Blue Hill, Maine) followed through with an RBI single.
The rally was short lived as Treveloni cleared the bases with a double to left center to make it 6-2.  Keenan Iuliano extended the lead for Colby in the eighth on a solo homerun to finish at 7-2.
Frank Driscoll earned the win for the Mules in six innings, four hits, and two unearned runs while striking out eight.  Ward picked up the save in three innings, giving up one hit.
Ryan Scepansky (Blandon, Pa.) threw 6.1 innings in the loss, allowing nine hits and six runs. 
The Terriers will take on Keuka College in a single game on Tuesday.
