CLERMONT, Fla. -- The Colby College softball team gave eighth-ranked Luther College one of its best games of the season in a 3-0 setback in the final game of the Florida spring break trip on Friday.
Luther (19-1 overall) took a 17-1 win over the Mules in the opener.
The Mules had five hits, three walks, and made no errors in the second game. Meanwhile, Colby right-hander Wiley Holton pitched all six innings, struck out two, and allowed three earned runs.
Carly Swartz (pictured) had one hit and two walks for the Mules in the nightcap. Lolo Niemiec, Julia Saul, Vanessa Warshaw, and Paige Hartnett also had hits.
In the opener, Warshaw tripled and scored the lone run of the game off an RBI single by Niemiec. Saul had the other hit for the Mules (1-9) and Ella Hommeyer had a walk.
