Beavers Take Third in their Season Opener

Willimantic, CT - University of Maine at Farmington's Men's track and field team had a strong showing in their season opener.
With a handful of first place finishes, the Beavers were able to snag 3rd overall. Beavers were led by senior Shane Hathaway, junior David Doering, and freshman Ethan Solis. Hathaway started his day by anchoring the 4x100 relay into second place only .07 out of first. The 4x100 consisted of Draco Peaslee, Ethan Solis, Ben Toribio and Shane Hathaway. He followed that performance up with another 2nd place finish in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 17.09, he wrapped up his day winning the 400-meter hurdles, followed closely behind was teammate Corey Martin.
Junior David Doering won the 800-meter run and then turned around with a come from behind win in the 4x400 meter relay. Ethan Solis in his freshman debut shattered the school record in the 200-meter dash placing him 2nd. Abshir Abukadir and Alfred Odong finished 3rd and 4th in the 400-meter dash. Ben Toribio placed 3rd in the long jump and Robert Hollis placed 3rd in the 5k to help the beavers out as well. 
The Beavers will be back in action on Friday as they head to Regis for a 2:30 PM start.
