Terriers Shutout Spartans 3-0

WATERVILLE, ME - The Thomas College men's soccer team defeated Castleton University 3-0 on Sunday afternoon in a North Atlantic Conference contest at Smith Field.  Willie Clemons led the way for the Terriers recording a goal and an assist.

The Terriers improve to 8-4 (4-1 NAC) on the season while the Spartans drop to 9-4-1 (5-1 NAC).

The Terriers struck quickly just 42 seconds into the game when Josh Emard chipped the ball over the keeper Amir Pasic to give Thomas a 1-0 lead.  Senior captain Tre Ming recorded an assist on the goal.

The score remained 1-0 for the rest of the first half with Thomas outshooting the Spartans 10-3.
At the 51st minute, Ming lofted the ball into the box finding Clemons who put the ball past the Spartan keeper, increasing the Terrier lead to 2-0.  Just eight minutes later, Clemons took the ball down the left side and sent a pass into the box that found an open Lukas Bohman who gave the Terriers a 3-0 lead.

Junior Joakim Sternas earned the shutout win in goal for the Terriers with four saves before being relieved by Alex Berard.  Amir Pasic was given the loss in a three save performance and was relieved by Dan Palker.

The Terriers held a 16-4 shot advantage over the Spartans for the contest.

The Terriers return to North Atlantic Conference play on Wednesday, October 14, when the travel to the University of Maine at Farmington for a 3:15 P.M. contest.
