Terriers Clip Chargers 2-1

WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College field hockey team defeated Colby-Sawyer College 2-1 in a North Atlantic Conference game on Saturday afternoon at Bernatchez Field. Emily Leighton scored the game-winning goal for the Terriers, with Brooklyn Curry adding two assists.

The Terriers struck first 13 minutes into the game. Taylor Bergeron received a pass from Curry just inside the circle. Bergeron drove a shot past the Colby-Sawyer goalkeeper to put the Red and Black up 1-0.

The Chargers evened the score with less than ten minutes remaining in the half. After a scramble in front of the Thomas net, where goalie Abbie Charrier made a save off the initial shot, Taylor O'Connor gathered the rebound and put it into the back of the net to bring the score to 1-1 at halftime.
Thomas regained the lead eight minutes into the second half. Curry crossed a pass in front of the net to Leighton, who buried the game-winning goal to put the Terriers up 2-1 for good.

Charrier made five stops in goal and earned the win for the Terriers. Jodi Dumayne was tagged with the loss, recording eight saves.

Thomas will be back in action on the road Tuesday, October 6 against Saint Joseph's College in a non-conference game at 3:00 pm.
