CASTINE, Maine - Stephen Berenyi's penalty kick goal with 1:45 remaining in the second overtime lifted Husson to a 2-1 win over Maine Maritime on Saturday evening in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Ritchie Field. The Eagles are unbeaten in four-straight games, a season-high.
Phil Frost scored with 38 minutes remaining in the first half on a pass up the field from Jimmy Fitzpatrick and Berenyi to give Husson (7-3-1, 4-1 NAC) a 1-0 lead.
Maine Maritime (3-8-1, 2-2-1 NAC) tied the game in the 82nd minute on a set up from Bryan Soucy to Ike Doiron.
Frost started the first overtime with a breakaway, but his shot went wide keeping things tied. Berenyi had a chance for the Eagles with eight minutes left in overtime, but Wil Huston slid to break up the opportunity. Just a minute later, Frost shook his defender and had a 1-on-1 breakaway with Mariner keeper Joshua Reeks. However, Reeks made a stop, running out to challenge Frost and breaking up the scoring chance.
