Beavers Earn First Conference Win Behind Duo of Roy and Gleason

FARMINGTON, Maine – The dynamic duo of Lydia Roy (Waterville, Maine/Waterville) and Ashley Gleason (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) tallied two goals and three assists in the University of Maine at Farmington (4-8-1, 1-4-1) women's soccer team's, 3-0, North Atlantic Conference shutout over Green Mountain College (0-10-0, 0-5-0) on Sunday afternoon.

The Beavers jumped out to the early lead with Gleason setting Roy up less than a minute into the game. Gleason passed a ball to her left and Roy dribbled in and launched a rocket into the left side of the net.

In the seventh minute, the duo switched roles and Roy set up Gleason to double the Beavers' lead. From inside the box, Roy sent a cross to the right side and Gleason booted home her seventh goal of the season.

Bridget Humphrey (Jefferson, Maine/Erskine Academy) notched her sixth goal of the season in the 15th minute on a free kick. Gleason started the attack by tapping the ball to start the free kick and Humphrey nailed her shot into the top left corner of the goal.

Sam Hatch (Hebron, Maine/Oxford Hills) and Kiana Thompson (Industry, Maine/Mt. Blue) combined to earn the shutout. Hatched saved six shots to pick up the victory with Thompson saving a pair of shots.

UMaine-Farmington returns to conference action on Thursday when the Beavers host Thomas College at 3:15.
