Land Trust Announces Star Gazing at Deer Foot Farm‏

Rockland, Maine - Pete Kalajian, president of the Central Maine Astronomical Society, will lead a naked eye constellation observation. Attendees will view whatever celestial objects the sky conditions will allow. Pete likes to read about astronomy, make telescopes, teach about the heavens, and take pictures of the wonders of the night sky. The event will be at Deer Foot Farm on Appleton Ridge starting at 8 pm, and please bring a towel or blanket for lying down in the grass.

This event is part of the Georges River Land Trust’s Walks and Talks, a series of events that provides interesting topics to explore, a variety of adventures and activities for people of all ages, and are free and open to the public. Future events include a riverbank talk about alewives, wildflower walk, full moon hike, and a talk on the history of black marble. Mark your calendar for the always popular Gardens in the Watershed Tour, Sunday, July 12, 2015.

Organized in 1987, the Georges River Land Trust works to conserve the ecosystems and traditional heritage of the Georges River watershed region through permanent land protection, stewardship, education and outdoor experiences.
