“Met Live in HD” season continues at Strand with CARMEN on November 1

ROCKLAND, Maine - The 2014-2015 Metropolitan Opera’s Live in HD season of broadcasts from Lincoln Center to the Strand Theatre continues Saturday, November 1 at 1pm with Bizet’s CARMEN.  An Encore broadcast takes place Tuesday, November 11 at 1pm.

Richard Eyre’s mesmerizing production of Bizet’s steamy melodrama returns with mezzo-soprano Anita Rachvelishvili singing her signature role of the ill-fated gypsy temptress. Aleksandrs Antonenko plays her desperate lover, the soldier Don José, and Ildar Abdrazakov is the swaggering bullfighter, Escamillo, who comes between them. Pablo Heras-Casado conducts the irresistible score, which features one beloved and instantly recognizable melody after another.

Sung in French with Met titles in English. Running time: 3 hours, 40 min. Tickets: $27 adults, $15 students. Encore tickets available day-of-show: Adult $23 / Student $5.
