Meet Hope, a girl who dreams of being an elephant, and meet Rosie, an elephant who dreams of being free, in “The Road to Hope: An Elephant’s Story.” Discover how Rosie and Hope journey from feeling alone and misunderstood to understanding what friendship really means. This play is inspired by the true story of Rosie, a retired circus elephant now living at Hope Elephant Sanctuary. The play will be performed by the Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine, on Tuesday afternoon, July 22, at 1:30 pm, hosted by the Camden Public Library.

“The Road to Hope: an Elephant’s Story” can be enjoyed by audiences of all ages. Learn about elephants, enjoy the lively circus scenes, and uncover the metaphors and messages behind the story. This play speaks to the power of interspecies connection, offers methods to overcome bullying, and instills the perseverance of hope. Written for young actors and audiences by Reba Short with musical direction provided by Brittany Cook. Produced with support from the Margaret E. Burnham Charitable Trust.
The cast, crew, and supportive family members of “The Road to Hope: An Elephant’s Story” visit Hope Elephants, the elephant sanctuary in  Hope, Maine. Rehearsing a play doesn’t just happen in a theatre-- sometimes you have to go do some field research!

The Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine creates theatre for kids and by kids. “The Road to Hope: an Elephant’s Story” will be performed by actors ages 8 to 16. The show will feature live musical accompaniment.
