Call for Artists who work from the human figure: "A Body of Work" April 2014

Hallowell, Maine - The Harlow Gallery in  Hallowell announces an OPEN CALL for Maine artists who work from the human figure for an exhibition in April 2014 entitled "A Body of Work".

The call is for art depicting the human body or inspired by the body.  No portraits, head studies or erotic art please.  Submissions will be reviewed by a curatorial committee comprised of  Joe Klofas (who has organized life drawing sessions at the Harlow Gallery since the 1990s), artist Tanya Fletcher, and Harlow Gallery staff.  "A Body of Work" will be on view at the Harlow Gallery April 4-26, 2014 with an opening reception on Friday, April 4, 5-8pm.

The deadline for email submissions is 11pm on March 1, 2014.

Eligibility – Artists should be residents of Maine at least part of the year or otherwise have a strong connection to our state. Artists submitting from out of state are responsible for the costs of shipping work to and from the Harlow. Please note that return shipping will be actual cost plus $20 to cover staff time.  There is an entry fee of $10 for members of the Kennebec Valley Art Association or $20 for non-members; this allows each artist to submit up to 4 works of art (please note the fee is per artist not per work of art).  Non-members may join the KVAA when submitting and pay the members rate.
