What’s better than getting out of the cold and into a warm theater and seeing one of the greatest family musicals of all time? For the week between Christmas and New Year’s Eve, The Grand offers everyone the opportunity to see a great film the way it was meant to be seen- projected on a giant screen, larger than life- a film that is all ages-appropriate, so you can bring the whole family! And in the great musical “Annie”, the audience can see a story that leaps straight from the comic strip and onto the screen, all the while enjoying the great songs that are associated with that film including “It’s a Hard-Knock Life”, “I Don’t Need Anyone But You” and, of course, that timeless, uplifting classic “Tomorrow”!
Directed by John Huston, the story takes place during the Great Depression in New York City, as the audience follows a plucky red-haired scrapper named Annie (Aileen Quinn) who is the voice of hope for her fellow orphans who live under the supervision of drunken floozy Miss Hannigan (Carol Burnett). When she is brought to the mansion of multi-billionaire Oliver Warbucks as a PR move, a plot is set in motion to con Warbucks out of a fortune. The film also stars Bernadette Peters and Tim Curry.
So bring the whole family, get out of the cold and share the experience of seeing one of the great family musicals the way it was meant to be seen- on the big screen- as The Grand presents “Annie”!
“Annie” is part of The Grand film program’s Vacation Matinee series that includes a screening of the musical “The Neverending Story” (starring Barrett Oliver, Noah Hathaway and Gerald McRaney) showing daily at 1 pm from Monday, February 17th through Friday February 21st for only $1 per person!
