RED SOX THRID BASE COACH BRIAN BUTTERFIELD ADDED TO SEA DOGS HOT STOVE DINNER LINEUP

Portland, Maine - The Portland Sea Dogs have announced that Boston Red Sox third base coach and Maine native Brian Butterfield has been added to the list of guests for the 2014 Hot Stove Dinner and Silent Auction.  The event benefits the Maine Children's Cancer Program and will take place on Friday, January 17th at 5:30 PM at the Sable Oaks Marriott in South Portland.  Butterfield joins Brandon Workman, Jackie Bradley Jr., and Dick Berardino.

Tickets for the event are on sale now.  Tickets are $50.00 and are limited to 300. Tickets can be purchased in person at the Hadlock Field Ticket Office, by phone at 207-879-9500 or online at www.seadogs.com.  Doors open at 5:30 PM with the Silent Auction running from 5:30 to 7:00 PM.  A buffet dinner will be served at 6:30 PM and the program will begin at 7:00 PM.  Everyone who attends will receive an autographed 8 X 10 photo of both Bradley Jr. and Workman

The 2013 season was Brian Butterfield's first season as the Red Sox third base coach.  He has 35 years of experience in professional baseball.  The 56 year-old has spent 17 seasons coaching at the major league level including 11 seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays, three with the Arizona Diamondbacks, and two with the New York Yankees.  The Maine native and resident attended the University of Maine as freshmen in 1976 and lettered in baseball and basketball.

Workman begin the 2013 season with the Portland Sea Dogs where he posted a 5-1 record with a 3.43 ERA in 11 games with the Sea Dogs and concluded the season pitching for the Red Sox in the World Series.  With the Red Sox he produced a 6-3 record with a 4.97 ERA in 20 games (3 starts) and was a member of the Red Sox post-season roster.  In seven post-season appearances Workman went 0-1 with a 0.00 ERA (0 ER/ 8.2 IP) with four strikeouts.

Bradley opened the 2013 season with Boston Red Sox after an impressive Spring Training.  He appeared in 37 games for the Red Sox in 2013.  He entered the 2013 season ranked by Baseball America as the #2 prospect in the organization.  He was also tabbed as the "Best Hitter for Average", "Best Defensive Outfielder", and "Best Outfield Arm" in the Red Sox organization by Baseball America.  In 2012, he hit .271 with six home runs, 29 RBI, and eight stolen bases in 61 games for the Sea Dogs.

Berardino has spent the last 46 years in the Red Sox organization, the last ten as a player development consultant.  He was part of the Red Sox major league coaching staff under Joe Morgan from 1989 to 1991.

All proceeds from the dinner and silent auction will benefit the official charity of the Portland Sea Dogs'; the Strike Out Cancer in Kids Program.  The Strike Out Cancer in Kids Program was established in 1995 to raise money for the Maine Children's Cancer Program.  For every strikeout that a Sea Dogs' pitcher throws money is raised through generous pledges of businesses and individuals.  In the 19 year history of the program more than four million dollars has been raised.  For more information on the Strike Out Cancer in Kids Program log on to www.seadogs.com.
