Rockland, Maine - Take some time out this holiday season—to listen and to sing. Enjoy a break and celebrate the season with a sing-along and Christmas reading in the Rockland Public Library’s Reading Room on Sunday, December 15 at 3:00 PM. Songs will be led and accompanied by pianists Sojourner Hodges and John Mehrmann and local banjo player Peter Proeller. Hodges, a pianist and composer originally from Tallahassee, Florida, is the Music Director at First Universalist Church in Rockland. John Mehrmann is a composer, performing musician and teacher in Midcoast Maine. Peter Proeller has been playing the banjo & singing Christmas carols for most of his life and he’s notplanning on stopping any time soon.
The afternoon’s event will begin with Marty Schindler reading “The Story of the Goblins who Stole a Sexton” from Charles Dickens’ The Pickwick Papers. The sing-along will feature such songs as “Deck the Halls,” “Feliz Navidad,” “Joy to the World,” and “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.” Not a singer?
