Bangor, Maine - Eastern Maine Community College will celebrate the life of former student and first EMCC Student Veterans Association (SVA) President Robert E. Gilbert this Friday by inviting friends, family, and community members to take part in a ribbon cutting of the newly dedicated Robert E. Gilbert Memorial Student Veterans Lounge. Gilbert was a strong proponent of starting the SVA during his time at EMCC and could often be found on campus recruiting fellow veteran students to join the association.
The lounge will be open to veteran students as a place for studying, support, and solitude to help student veterans face the challenges as a civilian at EMCC. The Husson University SVA as well as the University of Maine SVA will be on hand to help us kick off the beginning of a great resource for our veterans at EMCC. Light refreshments will be served.
