Rockport, Maine - Bay Chamber Concerts and Music School in Rockport is proud to announce the new date for the postponed Odeon Winter Concert originally scheduled for December 17, 2013. This free concert, which was delayed due to the threat of snow, is sponsored by Camden National Bank and will feature the school’s Odeon Ensembles, which include the Odeon Allegro, Symphony, and Adult Orchestra. The ensembles are led by Conductor Deidre McClure. The concert will now be presented at the Rockport Opera House on Tuesday, January 7th, 2014 at 6:30 pm. Music students of all ages will perform popular works in this annual winter concert for all to enjoy.
Originally founded in 2000, the Odeon Youth Orchestra merged with Bay Chamber Concerts in 2006 and has since expanded its offerings to include opportunities in ensembles for all ages and abilities. The Odeon Ensembles present two free public performances per year.
The mission of the Odeon Ensembles is threefold. The first is to offer musicians opportunities to play in a variety of ensemble settings, including full orchestra, chamber ensembles, and also performing as soloists. Secondly, Bay Chamber Music School students are given the opportunity to develop musical skills necessary for ensemble play. Lastly, the students are given the opportunity to perform orchestral and other string works in concert hall settings each spring and winter. These concerts are always free and open to the public.
