UPDATED: Clark Island Boatworks Fire Destorys Boat Shop

Fire fighters from St. George, Owls Head, South Thomaston and Thomaston battled a boat shop fire at Clark Island Boatworks in St. George Wednesday night.

Crews were called to the business around 8 p.m. Wednesday night.

According to WABI.TV the owner’s son lives on the property and heard the sounds of popping.

Two boats were inside the shop at the time were destroyed.

Fire fighters say all of the fiberglass and resin made it difficult to battle the flames and they were unable to save the shop.

They cleared around 3 a.m. Thursday.


The Fire Marshal’s office has been called in to try and figure out a cause.

Fire is NOW under control.

ST. George, Maine - There is a garage fire at Clark Island Boatworks currently burning in St. George, Multiple fire departments are on scene.

What we know right now is there has been multiple explosions and is fully involved.
