"SEUSS IS LOOSE" In Rockport

Rockport Dance Conservatory is pleased to present their 6th annual Spring Showcase featuring "Seuss is Loose" and other original choreography May 24th and 25th at the Camden Opera House at 6:30pm.  The show is sponsored by Midcoast Recreation Center in West Rockport.
Act 1 will feature choreography students have been working on all year including some of their award winning competition pieces.  RDC continues to have a themed second act and this year will feature the fun and fancy of Dr. Seuss. Rockport Dance Conservatory is known for its blending of dance styles mixed all together in choreography to give stories greater depth and character.  Seuss characters will be brought to life with custom costumes and props designed by RDC director Kari Cameron, whose work has been featured in Dance Spirit Magazine.
"We try to tailor our Spring Performance every year based on the studio dynamics.  This year we had a big growth in our younger dancers so Dr. Seuss seemed like a natural fit for our second act," says RDC director Kari Cameron.  "We strive to make our performances less like a recital and more like a theatrical show.  We want anyone to be able to walk in off the street and enjoy our performance, regardless of whether they know a dancer participating.  I think our audiences also appreciate our hour-long format because it allows them to enjoy the holiday weekend downtown afterwards.
The strong technical background helps students bring great dancing skills to other community performance venues including school talent shows, school musicals, community fund raising events, as well as college dance auditions. The discipline, mentoring, student unity, and passion for dance gives students positive qualities they carry beyond studio doors and out into their daily lives.
Tickets are available through RDC students and staff as well as at the door.  Adults $15 Students $12 and children under 5 are free.  For more information about RDC or "SEUSS IS LOOSE" check their website at www.rockportdance.com, email them at info@rockportdance.com or call (207) 557-5421.
