A public presentation at Dirigo Pines Inn
February 1 – 7:15 pm
Bangor, Maine - Maine’s winters can be beautiful, but can also seem long and isolating. This wintry weather can limit seniors’ ability to get out and do the things they like to do, and the shorter days can also affect their emotional wellbeing. As a result, some older Mainers may feel sad and frustrated – perhaps even depressed. However, there are things that people can do to positively influence their moods during the colder months. On February 1, 2013 at 7:15 pm, Rosscare will be presenting “Beat the Winter Blues” at Dirigo Pines Inn, Orono (off of the Kelley Rd.).
Presenter, Amy Cotton, a nurse practitioner at Rosscare and director of Operations and Senior Services Quality at EMHS, has more than 20 years experience in senior health. During this event, Amy will provide tips on how to help seniors beat the winter blues, as-well-as provide the signs and symptoms for depression, seasonal affective disorder, and post-holiday let down. Nutrition, socialization, spiritual engagement, and physical activity all play an important role when “feeling down” becomes a problem.
This informational event is free to community members and all ages are welcome. However, we kindly request that you RSVP so that we can adequately plan. Please RSVP and receive more information about the event by calling Dirigo Pines Inn at 1-866-344-3400
Rosscare is a member of EMHS, and the staff is dedicated to improving lives by valuing aging. They know life is busy and sometimes we can find it difficult to provide our loved ones with all the time, care, and resources they need. Through programs, such as Telecare and Live Safe Response Service, Rosscare provides resources to support the whole family.
