Ice Out Contest

Washington, Maine - The Washington Lakes Watershed Association (WLWA) is holding its first Ice Out Contest to raise awareness of the community's waterways.  A $50 cash prize will be awarded to the person who selects the correct date for the ice out on Washington Pond.

Tickets are free and will be available at the February 9 Hill and Gully Snowmobile Club's 26th Annual Snow Fest and Ice Fishing Derby.  The WLWA will have a table near the public boat launch area on the Razorville Road, Washington.  Tickets for the contest and brochures about protecting the waterways of Washington will be available.

Tickets will be limited to one per person.   Participants will choose a month and day when they believe the ice on Washington Pond will be open enough to allow a small boat to travel from the public boat launch on the southern end of the lake to a selected spot on the north side.  If more than one person chooses the correct date, the tickets will be pooled and one ticket will be drawn as the winner.
